Charlatans - You Cross My Path - Download Free!

My mate Ross just called me up and told me he managed to get me a ticket for The Charlatans gig coming up in May. Now, I know my musical knowledge is pretty tame (especially compared to that of Ross) but its been hyped up a bit so I am excited about going. However, I don't want to be shown up by not really knowing what's going on at the gig so I did a bit of searching.

With a stroke of luck, I found that their latest album "You Cross My Path" was released today and its available free ala Radioheads "In Rainbows".

Without further ado, you can get it HERE

I have added a couple of Charlatans videos for you to listen to as you download.

You Cross My Path:

How Cute Is This Girl?

Just stumbled on this while extrememly busy working hard on my business plan. Ahem. At first I thought this girl was pretty nerdy but I totally fall in love with girls who do weird stuff like this.

Oh she is playing some Weezer song on the Ukelele too. I think I will do a post of top Ukelele songs since they are all the rage just now. In my world at least.

Yeasayer

I found Yeasayer at the start of the year and their debut album "All Hour Cymbals" is really great. They are from Brooklyn and I hope this is the way groups are heading, I like the theatrical and passionate music that doesnt follow ordinary rules. It is a big sound, sort of comparable to Arcade Fire but a bit more folky and a lot of extra elements. It has some interesting mixes of instruments too. Click the image to listen to a good track "2080".

They are currently on tour and will be in Glasgow on 8th March.

The Real Futurama

This is the original track by Pierre Henry that was later used as the Futurama theme music. Its a pretty trippy video and a cool tune. My keyboard hates me so I am going to say no more, watch it!

The Brian Jonestown Massacre

So I got a hold of the Skins OST the other day and it has a great mix of tracks. One song that gets me going a bit is "You Look Great When I'm Fucked" by Brian Jonestown Massacre. They do some great stuff and have a load of albums on their site. To download have a look HERE

Have to love their label too, The Committee To Keep Music Evil. Here is a video (without the video) so you can hear them for yourself.

This post would be a lot more enthusiastic if I had some decent sleep in the last week but trust me they really do have a great sound!

Archie Bronson Outfit

I keep finding all these great bands. This one is Archie Bronson Outfit, they are signed by Domino Records - the same guys with Arctic Monkeys on their books.

I feel a bit weird saying that, as if the Arctic Monkeys are one of my favourite bands or something, I recognise they don't suck, so that is enough to give the label some credit.

I have only been able to listen to their most recent album, Derdang Derdang (2006) so far. It has a great overall sound with great energy. This is the sort of music that gets me in an active mood - its good when you need to get something done, but you don't want anything too heavy that makes you lose concentration.

Here is an interesting interview with the band so you can find out some more on their background.

I have added some videos for my 2 favourites from the Derdang Derdang album, enjoy!
